Our Commissions |

Parish Council The Parish Council’s major function is to provide decision making leadership, direction and coordination for all organizations and group activities within the Parish consistent with the laws of the Church. To set goals for the Parish and to implement, administer and evaluate such goals as may be approved. Other duties include assuming responsibility for the finances of the Parish including income and expenditures, budgeting, building and grounds; plan improvement and expansion, and debt retirement. All three parishes have their own Parish Councils but meet several times throughout the year as a group.
Administration & Finance Commissions The Administration Commission shall function as the financial controller of the parish with duties and responsibilities as follows: · Implement and monitor adequate financial controls to adequately safeguard the assets of the parish. · Authorize and hire outside accounting services where necessary to provide for competent financial reports of income and expenses and financial condition. · Invest idle short-term parish funds to obtain the highest return along with maximum safety. · Review annual budget requests, both operating and capital improvement, of Sacred Heart Parish and School, and submit to the Parish Council along with approval or recommendations. · Constantly monitor actual results of operations in relation to said budgets and report progress to the Parish Council. · All fund raising activities and requests for unbudgeted funds shall be submitted to the Administration Commission for review and recommendation prior to submission to the Parish Council. · Oversee maintenance and restoration of the physical plant. · Oversee personnel resources. · Institute long range planning for the parish.
Social Concerns The major functions of this commission are to: · Identify the social issues and human needs in the parish and community, and to establish priorities in committing resources of time, money and personnel. · Work with other churches and civic groups to meet community needs. · Give financial and/or volunteer support to already existing agencies. · Educate itself through prayer, study and participation in workshops and seminars and to encourage other parishioners to participate in these programs, as well as, in commission projects. · Provide awareness programs concerned with community needs/issues. All the parishes work together through this commission.
Christian Education The function and nature of this commission includes: · To identify the religious education needs, objectives, and goals of all parishioners from pre-school through elderly. · To provide for workshops, study groups, programs, classes, and other educational models that will enable participants to grow in their Christian life. · To establish those policies necessary to implement the Diocesan guidelines regarding the on-going Christian education of all members of the parish family; i.e., sacramental programs. · To recruit, hire and define the duties of personnel necessary to carry out the total religious education programs of the parish. All the parishes work together through this commission.
Stewardship The function of this commission is: · To evaluate stewardship within the parish which reflects parishioner needs and involvement in sharing time, talent, and financial resources. · To plan, execute, and communicate the annual parish sacrificial giving program, which determines parishioner pledges and financial commitment for the parish budget and its programs. · To develop programs that foster deeper participation and that enhance a deeper feeling of belonging by parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish. · To assess, plan, and administer in cooperation with the Parish Council and other commissions the needs of all parishioners, through home-based visitations or contact with elderly, ill, new members, individuals or families of the parish. · To coordinate and communicate parish involvement and information through a parish newsletter. All the parishes work together through this commission.
Liturgy Commission · To set goals and priorities for the development of the spiritual life of the parish; · To plan, develop, and evaluate liturgy and spiritual development programs; · To plan and coordinate liturgies for special occasions and seasons; · To provide programs for the training, ongoing education and evaluation of the various liturgical ministers: Readers, Commentators or song leaders, Musicians Ministers of hospitality and Ushers, Servers, Gift bearers · To educate itself through study, prayer and participation in workshops and seminars, and to encourage other parishioners to participate in these programs; · To develop programs for vocation awareness, the missions, evangelization and ecumenism All the parishes work together through this commission. |
